Crowns & Bridges
Here at Brilliant Denture and Implant Studio, we use crowns to strengthen and protect damaged teeth by restoring their shape, stability, and function.
We use bridges to replace missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth to neighboring natural teeth or implants, helping maintain proper bite alignment and improving chewing and appearance.
What is a crown and what is it used for?
A crown is a custom-made “cap” that covers and protects a damaged tooth. A person might need a crown for the following reasons:
1. To protect a weak or cracked tooth
A crown prevents further breaking and holds cracked pieces together.
2. To restore a badly decayed tooth
If a cavity is too large for a filling, a crown can save the tooth by providing strength and structure.
3. After a root canal
Teeth that have had root canal treatment become more fragile. A crown helps protect them from fracturing.
4. To improve appearance
Crowns can correct discoloration, misshapen teeth, worn-down teeth, and other aesthetic concerns.
5. To replace a large filling
If most of the natural tooth structure is gone, a crown restores normal function.
What is a bridge and what is it used for?
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to adjacent teeth or implants. Someone might need a bridge for these reasons:
1. To replace missing teeth
A bridge fills the gap, restoring a complete and functional smile.
2. To prevent teeth from shifting
When a tooth is missing, neighboring teeth can drift into the empty space, causing bite problems or crowding. A bridge keeps teeth properly aligned.
3. To restore chewing and speech
Missing teeth can make chewing difficult and certain words hard to pronounce. A bridge helps restore normal function.
4. To maintain facial structure
Replacing missing teeth helps preserve the natural shape of the face and prevents a sunken appearance over time.
5. Faster and more affordable than implants
Bridges do not require surgery and can often be completed more quickly and at a lower cost compared to dental implants.
